Father's Day and Graduation Man-Spirationals

Well, graduation is already upon us and Father's Day, June 20th, is imminently closing in (especially for us procrastinators) so I came up with a little keepsake craft for both.  I used Clips frames from Ikea (so glad I found these - I spent sooooo much more for the same thing at a famous craft store...lesson learned!) a nice, heavy card stock, free typewriter graphics from the Graphics Fairy, a paper cutter and some man-spirational poetry by Edgar Guest and Rudyard Kipling

It's a simple project, really: the most difficult part was figuring out how to put the frame together.  I used an old typewriter font and once I had the layout I liked, it was a simple print, cut and frame job.  I used a pair of scissors to rough up the edge of the printed card stock to give it the look of a page pulled from a book.  I think these would make a great present to a new, first-time dad as a set.  Or give Only a Dad to your own Dad and If to a young man, just starting out in the world.  If you like the idea but don't want to do it yourself, I have these for sale in my Etsy shop.

Speedy Delivery!

My first non-family, non-friend, non-friend-of-a-friend order is on its way to New Jersey!  Being my first customer, she's also getting quite a few freebies in the mix.  I hope she just loves them!!!  I can't describe the thrill of selling an item for the first time to a total stranger!  I was absolutely giddy.

When my sister moved to New Hampshire a few months ago, I inherited THREE sizeable boxes of U-Haul packing paper.  This paper is so wonderful.  It has the feel of old newsprint without the chalky print gunk and it's lighter than brown kraft wrapping or packing paper.  So, I thought it would look cute and vintage-esque to wrap all of my packages in it so they look like old Mercantile Parcels.  Cute, eh?  I'm going to try printing on it later.

Just Something I Made, Just for Flickr!

Cathe Holden, blogger, artist, inspirer and encourager of countless many, of Just Something I Made has generously started a Flickr group for friends and followers to share their creations using her own projects and graphics as inspiration.  So, of course I've joined the group and have added a few photos with more to come.

Cathe's blog is a huge inspiration to me and I can't wait to see all of the pics added to the group.  If you're not yet reading her blog, go brew a pot of coffee, grab a doughnut and maybe ask someone to come looking for you if you don't resurface in a few hours...it's easy to lose time there.

Also, if you're a graphics-lover like me, check out Home Grown Logos, Cathe's graphic design site, and Farm Fresh Creative, her journal of design.  She's got a great portfolio and a rare old-school-meets-new-school design perspective, in this ad-copy-lover's opinion!

It's Showcase Time!

Check it out!  I was featured in an Etsy treasury called Romance of the Past!  Hope it makes it to the front page!  The treasury features lots of Marie Antoinette/ Frenchy things with a grunge twist and one of my many sets of Marie Antoinette note cards was chosen as part of the group! Très cool!
